Built in the space between the baseball, softball, and football fields at Southgate Anderson High School is Pervis Memorial; part of the right field fence of the baseball field is used as the left field wall; part of the left field fence of the softball field is the right field wall, portable fencing is used to cover center field. The layout is slightly kinder to righties than lefties.
Pervis Memorial was actually used temporarily in the 2012 season for some Belgian Wiffles home games, but this season El Diablos plan on some upgrades. There have been talks of having a live chicken at the game, and a few other extra quirks are also planned to be added. Pervis Memorial favors the batter, but the field does get pretty spacious in centerfield. Convenient parking is in the lot of Allen Elementary off McCann, south of the football field.
SWOT Report |
Strengths: |
School building and football bleachers block some of the wind, lots of parking with a porta-potty west of the baseball field, most of the outfield fencing is in place. |
Weaknesses: |
Field holds a lot of rain water in the outfield, grass is patchy, lame ambiance, cheap homeruns on the lines, not much shade,. |
Opportunities: |
Southgate high school is in a neighborhood so passerbyers could stop to watch games. |
Threats: |
Baseball/softball/tracks meets could stop the field from being used. |
